Financial, Compliance and Risk Management | Effective External Engagement | Board members
The Network's strategic directions are appropriately aligned with local community health priorities. Strong relationships and linkages in regards to community health planning need to be developed with other health care service providers to ensure programs have community relevance and greater impact.
Aim: to ensure sound financial management, compliance with all legal and contractual requirements and mitigation of identified risks.
Sound financial management ensures a high standard of accountability and ensures the appropriate management of the program, including improving accountability and transparency of public funding and ensuring funding is used for the purposes for which it is provided. Sound compliance and risk management contributes to the effective management of the organisation's resources, assets and liabilities to protect its board, management and staff and enables the organisation to achieve its optimal outcomes.
The Network develops a financial model and plan for the long term viability of the organisation so that it is financially stable and identifies and reacts to contingencies in a responsive manner. For the Board to be managed effectively, they must be responsible for approving budgets and made aware of anything that will financially impact on the Network, so that adequate steps can be taken. The Outcomes Based Funding (OBF) contract is inadequate to the needs of programs in the Adelaide Western area, so the AWGPN, in order to fulfil its strategic intent, must look for other sources of funding.
Collaborations with key stakeholders influence local primary health care policy, planning and service delivery. Sound working relationships between key stakeholders contribute to the effectiveness of the interaction between general practice and other health care and support providers. Community input into the program of activities ensures the relevance of the activities to the wider community.
