AWGPN 17th AGM Thursday 18 November 6.30pm Royal Adelaide Golf Club, Seaton 
Dear GP Members, you are cordially invited to attend our 17TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING to be held on Thursday 18th November 2010. We will be having a different sytle of AGM event this year, with a less informal Cocktail Evening, instead of the usual more formal sit down dinner. As in previous years, we we still have many door prizes to give away and there will be plenty of food and beverages. We look forward to seeing you there as... Welcome To Our Two New Aboriginal Health Workers - Here To Assist GPs & Practices 
We are pleased to introduce Warren Milera and Annette Miller to the AWGPN team! Warren is our new Closing The Gap Project Coordinator and Annette fills the new position of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Outreach Worker. They will both be assisting with the important 'Closing The Gap' program, to help Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander client's get onto a thorough and adequate health care plan. Annette will also be working with the Westwood Clinic and the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Womens Fitness Program.For any queries relating to these programs, please contact Warren or Annette at the AWGPN HQ phone 8244 3822. Psychological Services for Vietnamese Population
Please welcome Ms Dung Nguyen, who is able to offer psychological services to our Vietnamese population at the Westwood Clinic. Dung is highly regarded in the Vietnamese community. If you wish to refer a patient specifically to Dung, please complete the standard referral form - indicating that access to Dung is required and direct to Emma Aiston at the AWGPN Mental Health Branch Office, Ph 8243 0480, Fax 8243 0489 or Email emma.aiston@awgpn.org.au. Dung is also able to take referrals from the non-Vietnamese speaking population.


GP WEEK 2010 - Fri 26 Nov & Sat 27 Nov
GP WEEK will be held again this year at the TQEH providing a two full day professional education course ideal for General Practitioners and Practice Nurses of all levels of experience. This course will be allocated RACGP Category 2 points. WORKSHOPS MAY INCLUDE: Diabetes Centre, Motivational Interviewing, Basic Life Support, Mental Health: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Update on new medications for depression and psychosis, Plaster Workshop, Sports Injuries, Validating disease registers in General Practice, Mandatory Reporting, Dietician workshop, Using the PEN CAT Tool, Exercise physiology, Eyes: Diabetes retinopathy, macular degeneration & acute red eye, Palliative Care and ECG.
